Boracay Island Philippines

ABOUT BORACAY

Boracay Island is known as one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. Its powdery white sand beach has earned Boracay recognition as The Best Island in the World in the travel magazine Travel + Leisure.

It is located in the Western Visayas Region of the Philippines, about 315 kilometers south of Manila. Boracay is able to attract new and return visitors due to the island’s self-sustained community and unique culture.

Aside from being blessed with powdery white sand, Boracay is also favored as a prime kitesurfing destination. Other popular pursuits in the island include sailing, scuba diving, island hopping, zip-lining, parasailing and many more fun activities.

Getting to Boracay is about to become more convenient with the opening of the new Caticlan International Airport in late 2015 to early 2016. The new international airport will enable flights from various countries to land directly in Caticlan, just minutes from Boracay Island. Till then, tourists and vacationers will have to fly in via the Kalibo or old Caticlan Airports, both located in the Aklan mainland.

From the old Caticlan Airport, travelers must take a 15 minute ferry boat ride to Boracay Island. From the Kalibo Airport, passengers may board a bus or van to Caticlan which takes about 2 hours. Once in Caticlan, one must take the ferry boat to the island from the Caticlan Jetty Port. For convenience, ask your hotel booking officers about available shuttle services.
